The Essex Wire substation is a 7.5 MVA dedicated substation rated at 69 kV-12.47/7.2 kV with automatic switching from two separate 69 kV sources with capabilities of a third 69 kV source in emergencies. The substation also has the capability of a 12.47/7.2 kV feed in a substation emergency or substation maintenance.
